How can an INTERPOL’s red notice impact your rights?

As usually we perceive a red notice if an international arrest warrant, and don’t think about other consequences that may come from this INTERPOL notice.

Sometimes a red notice doesn’t lead to detention, but contributes to other restrictions on rights and freedoms.

The problems with banks, cancel the residency permit and deny entry to enter the different countries. Sometimes our clients face such problems during the red notice in force and even after canceling a red notice.

Cancel the eligibility of visitors to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program (ESTA), it’s a first indicator that you are a subject of INTERPOL notice.

Close the bank account or refuse to enter the different country without explaining the reason, it also suggests that you were added to the INTERPOL list.

In some countries, information on INTERPOL’s lists may still be available in the national systems even after the official removal of data from the INTERPOL information system, which may negatively affect you if you travel to such countries.

There are also cases when, after the cancellation of an INTERPOL Red Notice, for example, when it is canceled due to a violation of the INTERPOL rules, or when a person has been found and served his or her sentence, a country may issue another INTERPOL notice (blue or green notice).

This is done to notify other INTERPOL member countries that such a person is potentially dangerous to society or may commit new crimes. For example, if a person has been convicted of sexual offenses or crimes against life and health, he or she may be on INTERPOL’s watch list for many years after the sentence has been served. And this case creates real trouble for travelling, because mostly INTERPOL member countries deny entry to those persons to their countries.

Sometimes the INTERPOL notice is used to restrict travelling abroad to different countries or conversely, to force a person to leave the country where he or she is staying.

In one of our cases, a red notice was used to revoke a residence permit to force a person to go to another country.

However, I would like to remind you that the purpose of a red alert is to locate, detain and take action for further extradition. All other mechanisms used by countries are outside the scope of Interpol’s rules, and therefore it is necessary to respond promptly to such situations by contacting the Commission for the control of INTERPOL’S files.
