Interpol Yellow Notices are issued for the purpose of seeking information on unidentified persons who may have committed a crime. The notice includes a physical description of the person and any other identifying information, such as aliases or distinguishing characteristics.
Yellow notices are international requests for information about missing persons, whether they are victims of crime or witnesses, or simply missing.
Interpol’s Yellow Notice system was designed to help law enforcement agencies locate and identify missing persons, whether they are victims of crime or witnesses, or simply missing.
The Yellow Notice includes the name and last known location of the missing person, as well as any identifying information such as scars, tattoos, or birthmarks. Interpol also works with national authorities to issue Amber Alerts when a child goes missing.
Beyond Yellow Notices Interpol release these types of notifications.
Red Notices are international requests for the arrest and extradition of wanted criminals. Blue Notices are issued to gather information about a person’s identity, location, or activities in relation to a crime. An Orange Notice is issued to provide information about terrorist acts, methods, or incidents. It is also used to warn of the imminent danger posed by terrorist acts. A Black Notice is issued to seek information on unidentified bodies. This notice includes a physical description of the body and any other identifying information, such as dental records. A Green Notice is issued to provide information about criminal activities that may occur in the future. This notice includes a description of the activity and any other relevant information, such as the modus operandi of the criminals involved. A Purple Notice is issued to seek or provide information on the modus operandi of criminal organizations. This notice includes a description of the organization’s methods, as well as any other relevant information.
Interpol’s Yellow Notice is just one type of notice the organization issues. Others include Red Notices, Blue Notices, Orange Notices, Black Notices, Green Notices, and Purple Notices. Each type of notice is designed to help law enforcement agencies with a specific task, whether it be locating a missing person or identifying a wanted criminal.
